Civil and banking litigation

A case is won or lost long before the hearing, in how the transaction was documented and in what was decided to claim. Aurelio handles the stage where there is no room left to improvise.

When negotiation runs out

Most commercial matters close around a table. The ones that do not end up before a court, and there everything changes: deadlines stop being flexible, evidence that was not prepared in time can no longer be built, and the best argument in the world counts for little if it arrives badly framed. Aurelio handles that stage.

His practice is in civil litigation and, within it, in banking and finance contracts, where the most technical proceedings sit and where the outcome depends most on how the transaction was documented years earlier.

What he works on

  • LitigationConducting civil and commercial proceedings at first instance and on appeal.
  • BankingBanking and finance contracts: standard terms, security, refinancing and claims against financial institutions.
  • ContractsBreach of contract and liability, with the damages claim that almost always follows.
  • Real estateProperty contracts and construction: sales, building works and construction defects.
  • CompanyShareholder disputes and challenges to resolutions, alongside the corporate practice.
  • InsolvencyInsolvency, both from the debtor company and from the creditor trying to get paid.

The lawyer who also writes

In 2020, as he has told it himself, tired of drafting only for judges to read him, he signed up for a workshop at the Club Renacimiento writing school. A short story came out of it and won a competition. Three years of narrative training later, that story had become El intervalo, his first novel, published by Plasson e Bartleboom and presented in December 2025 at the 80 Mundos bookshop in Alicante.

The novel is narrated by someone caring for Dante, a young quadriplegic man, and is a portrait of love once there is no way out. It has nothing to do with the law and, at the same time, everything: a person who has spent three years learning to make a sentence say exactly what it means writes better pleadings. In litigation, where a judge reads eighty pages and retains twenty, that is not a biographical ornament. It is an advantage.

How he works with us

Aurelio practises at Francisco González Fernández's firm and works with Veredum on the matters that reach litigation. The two of them working together has a practical consequence for you: when a civil matter brushes against the criminal law, or the other way round, nobody has to be found and the file does not have to be explained again from the start.

He comes in when the decision to sue is taken, and that decision is made with you first, with the cost and the timetable on the table. If the matter is not worth taking to court, you will be told.

When it is worth calling him

When a claim arrives, or the formal notice that foreshadows one. When you have spent months negotiating without moving and deadlines are running. When a financial institution ignores a complaint. And before signing the refinancing that looks like the only way out: often it is not, and the time to look at it is beforehand.
